Most Common Worker's Compensation Claims

Repetitive Motion

A repetitive injury is difficult to pin-point and is harder to prove. These type of injuries and conditions arise or are worsened by workers doing the same motions over and over. Examples include using a mouse, sitting, lifting boxes, and working on an assembly line.

Fall to Lower Level

Falls to a lower level most commonly happen when a worker falls off a ladder, a roof, or falls down a flight of stairs. Examples include roofers, construction workers, and teachers falling down stairs.

Slip, Trip & Falls

Slip, trip, and fall claims arise from employees slipping on wet floors or snowy walkways. Security guards, groundskeepers, store clerks, nurses and hospital staff are the common victims of wet floors.

Machinery Accidents

Machinery accidents are typically reported in cases where large, heavy machinery has injured a worker by crushing or mutilating. Most commonly seen in factories or construction workers.

Highway Incident

These injuries are a common occurrence for truck drivers, traveling business representatives and police officers. Truck drivers in particular are prone to accidents while driving.

Overexertion

Overexertion injury occurs after lifting, pulling, pushing or throwing causes a muscle to be pulled, or a joint to move beyond its normal range of motion. This is typically seen in police offers and factory or construction workers.

Struck by Object

This injury occurs most commonly when something falls off a shelf, or things are dropped by another worker onto a lower level. Office workers, restaurant and retail workers are all in danger of being struck by something.

Struck Against an Object

This injury occurs when an individual falls into, or is physically forced into an object such as a bookshelf, barricade, or other stationary object. Office workers and factory workers most often report these kinds of injuries.

Bodily Reaction

Bodily reaction injury occurs when a worker avoids falling, but still manages to twist or sprain an ankle. This type of injury is frequently seen in police officers and nurses, however, none of us are immune to an ankle sprain at the most inopportune time.

Workplace Violence

According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "375 workers were killed in shootings while on the job in 2012.  While nobody expects violence in the workplace, it does happen.
